Behind the Build: How we are evolving CloudFO’s Weekly Business Review

A human business owner having a meeting with his AI colleague and co worker

When we launched the first version of CloudFO’s Weekly Business Review (WBR), the goal was simple:
Give Business leaders the clarity of a Monday meeting in under 10 minutes, so they can focus on running their business.

What we didn’t expect was how much it would feel like running a real meeting, with all the nuance, detours, and unpredictable questions that come with it.

v1: Accurate, but rigid
In v1, we structured the WBR using multiple dedicated models and scripted functions attached to each agent. This gave us strong control over accuracy, which is critical because every insight needed to match the numbers on the dashboard.

No hallucinations allowed.
And it worked: the WBR was reliable, structured, and safe.
But it was also... stiff and quite dry to be honest.
It could answer “What happened?”
But struggled with “So what?” or “What if?”
It didn’t know when to go deeper, or when to pull back. It didn’t flow.
Just like in a real-life meeting, you can’t control what people will ask or where the conversation will go.
Sometimes it’s a tangent worth exploring.
Sometimes you need to get back on track.
WBR v1 couldn’t read that room (so I guess not that dissimilar to some people you may have worked with before).

But even in v1 one thing worked beautifully:
💬 It summarised the discussion and sent a report straight to your inbox.

v2: More like a real conversation
In v2, we have multiple specialist AI agents working together, much like a real team.
Now, if you veer off the agenda?
CloudFO can follow, dig into your churn, your margins, your channel performance, then gently steer things back.
It’s not just accurate. It’s more fluent.
It knows when to explore.
When to refocus.
And most importantly, it still sends that summary, in plain language, straight to your inbox when the review is done.
It’s starting to feel less like software and more like a trusted co-worker.

CloudFO weekly business review

We previously discussed the benefit of reviewing KPIs and business performance weekly, but we also now have the flexibility of doing the review over different cadences and periods.

What’s next?

We’re currently testing voice interactions, making the WBR feel even more like a real conversation.
Because sometimes the best interface… is just speaking your mind.
Also, what happens if a user skips the meeting? How can we still keep them up to speed
Our goal hasn’t changed:
Clarity, without complexity.
A meeting you look forward to appearing in your inbox.
